Tidal Fury Image

Tidal Fury is an inaugural collection by a unique, powerfully evocative and imaginative voice. Poetic texts are intermeshed in narratorial strands. A love story -- he was “a literary device, and then I discovered we knew each other intimately.” An aged narcissist who wields power and invokes a subtext on the social politics of power. A poet whose muse is Medusa. Tidal Fury is a poetry on the edge of the text of an interior ocean of fury and passion. The collection includes artwork from the poet.

Praise for Tidal Fury

'Reading Tidal Fury is akin to bathing in the ocean at midnight: ethereal and erotic; sensuous and startling. [A] deliciously dark collection of poetry and artwork.'
-
Heather Babcock, author of Being Underground and Moving Backwards

'Tidal Fury
is a richly layered, challenging collection by a multi-talented woman. Each line of Tidal Fury shuttles and re-strands a woman immersed in art, culture, mythology who braids and beads words and images in a complex, often erotically-charged conversation with various characters and with the reader, whom she meets "at the edge of the text."'
-
John Oughton, author of Time Slip and Death by Triangulation

'Tidal Fury
introduces the reader to a series of poetic texts underscored by a sensibility of desire, loss, and pain. The images are highly original, evocative, powerful and memorable. The underlying mythology is represented in a highly poetic style. A primeval force with a mythical dimension underlies the narrative, which propels the reader forward with an irresistible force….A powerful book, which reveals the depths of the author’s poetic imagination.'
-Irena Nikolova, author of
Complementary Modes of Representation in Keats, Novalis, and Shelley

Tidal Fury
'is a blueprint for how to channel life's challenges into modes of evolved self-expression. Brenda's work needs a new language to describe it. You won't be disappointed if you buy this book ... it can act as an ally and companion on your journey.'
-
Stirling Davenport, author of The Silver Reindeer, and two earlier novels.

'What a wealth of riches is stored in Tidal Fury! Such thought-provoking insights and powerful reflections on the human condition. The artwork that accompanies the poetic narrative is a marriage of words and visuals that results in marvellous textures and layers.'
-
Lisa de Nikolits, author of The Nearly Girl and five earlier novels.

A video of my longest performance of Tidal Fury yet. Many thanks to Tom Gannon Hamilton for accompanying me with his magic violin, and Jeff Howard for his amazing video clips. See drop-down menu below where I talk about the process of memorizing poetry.
